Balangandan Necklace

The seeds of this necklace were sewn 30 years ago with Barbara's flea-market purchase of a mysterious Mother or Pearl ornament that when a secret door was opened, 4 little "cards" were removable.  Barbara restored this treasure and it sat in a drawer in her workbench for thirty years.  That was, until the appearance of Covid during a time when she was freed from her regular work routine and could concentrate on making art from the heart.  On Barbara's blog, you can read about the journey of this piece. However, once the piece was completed, Barbara was accused of "misappropriation" and labeled a racist.  This sent her down a rabbit hole of self-discovery and history.  How the journey ended is only told in her book, "You're so Talented".
