Commission: AMY'S FAMILY HEIRLOOM RING
14k white palladium gold with black and white pavé and milligrain set diamonds. Amy commissioned this ring and provided a drawing featuring an infinity sign combined with and "F" that represented her family name. BK carved the wax including an inscription on the inside of the ring that was significant to Amy.

Sadly my Mother passed away this past February - I know that she is finally happily dancing with my Dad. Jewelry was always a "big thing" between my parents. My Father in particular had a penchant for designing his own pieces and loved to bestow his unique gifts upon my Mom - and was even happier when they went out and she was, almost literally, dripping in one-of-a-kind jewels.
Upon my Mom's passing, I thought it would be nice to design a sort of family ring - one that represented both my parents and myself. I had an idea in mind and I reached out to many designers across the country but failed to make the "connection" I was after. Through local friends in the Hudson Valley, Barbara's name/Clear Metals kept coming up. I called and left a message. And there it began.
When I heard back from Barbara I felt that connection immediately on the phone. I e-mailed her a rough sketch of what I had in mind and then went out to her studio to discuss. We hit it off and I felt completely confident that I would get not only what I was looking for, but that much more (and boy did I!).
Barbara took my sketch and brought life, depth, subtlety and beauty to it. She added texture (which holds so much meaning and significance to me) and the hammered band is also a true comment on me and my journey. How did she know to incorporate all of these meaningful details? Because while Barbara Klar is an extremely talented designer she is more notably an incredible being; creative, insightful, real. She not only "got" my jewelry concept, she clearly "got" me as well.
I wear my ring with such pride and joy not only for what it represents to my family, but for being part of a creative collaboration that was completely fulfilling. Everyday I cannot believe it is a reality on my finger! What she gave me is not only something beautiful to adorn my hand, but a unique piece that brings me comfort, joy and peace. My only problem is that I have to curtail my visits to her studio because I have yet to leave there without buying at least two more items each time! I need many more hands and necks he he.
